Obituary for Alberto Pereira DaSilva

Alberto P. DaSilva, age 90, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away at his home on Monday, July 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Fatima F. (Freitas) Silva. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 26th.

He was born on the island of Pico in the Azores, Portugal on November 9, 1931 and was the son of the late Manuel P. and Isaura A. DaSilva.

Alberto was raised in Faial and immigrated to the United States at age 40. He was employed with DaSilva's Upholstering in Reading for many years. Alberto was a kind and caring man who loved animals and enjoyed spending time outside in his yard in Lowell tending to his vegetable garden and fruit trees. He was an avid soccer fan and an enthusiastic Benfica supporter. Above all, he adored his family and was happiest surrounded by his loved ones at family gatherings.

In addition to his loving wife, Alberto is survived by his sons, Justin DaSilva of Lowell, and Tony DaSilva of Maine and his daughter Melou of California; his siblings, Almeirinda Gomes and her husband Luis of Tewksbury, Herbert DaSilva and his wife Carol of Reading, and Isaura Costa of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Jose Manuel P. DaSilva, Francisco P. DaSilva, Vital P. DaSilva, Antonio DaSilva and Marilia Bettencourt.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 14th from 8-10am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Anthony Parish, 893 Central St., Lowell. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
