Obituary for Athanasios Xigoros

Athanasios “Arthur” Xigoros of Lowell passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 13, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Kamara, Greece in 1938 to Efstathios and Yiannoula (Tanglis) Xigoros. He received his education in Megaolopolis, Greece before moving to Athens to work as a construction supervisor. He then immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s with his family for a better life. Athanasios lived in Lowell and worked at Electro Circuits at first and then moved on to manage the operations of Broadway Pizza in Lowell with his beloved brother John Xigoros and then his nephew Efstiathios Xigoros. He worked tirelessly with his family for over four decades without missing a single day of work. Athanasios was highly respected by all for his loyalty and dedication in all his endeavors. Nothing mattered more to Athanasios than his family and his work. Outside of work, his favorite past time hobby was planting and maintaining vegetable gardens from his heirloom seeds.

Athanasios is predeceased by his beloved father, Efstathios and stepmother Evgenia Xigoros and his siblings, Georgia Hantzis, Fotios Xigoros, and John Xigoros. He is survived by his loving sisters, Christina Pournaras and Vasiliki Sotirakos, and his brother Dimitrios Xigoros of Greece. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their children who adored him, both here in the U.S. and in Greece.

He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
