Obituary for Augusta Fontes (Neto)
Augusta Gonsalves (Neto) Fontes, age 92, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Sunday, April 24, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Juvenal Fontes with whom she enjoyed 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.
She was born in Madeira Island, Portugal on May 22, 1929. Augusta immigrated to the United States with her husband at the age of 27. She worked as a packager for the Prince spaghetti factory for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was a friend of all animals, most of all she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Augusta is survived by her four children, Elaine Parnagian of Merrimack, NH, Paul Fontes of Woburn, Lisa Fontes of Dracut, and Anthony Fontes of Lowell, two grandchildren; Kelsey and Zack Fontes.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Lowell General Hospital and all the team members, especially on floor D3 for the care they provided to Augusta at the end of her life.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 29th from 9am to 11am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Followed by a funeral home service at 11am. Interment Saint Mary Cemetery, TEWKSBURY.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the M.S.P.C.A. at Nevins Farm 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
