Obituary for Barbara Helen Malburne (Holgate)
Barbara Helen (Holgate) Malburne, age 92, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at the Blaire House on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Freeman Malburne with whom she enjoyed 38 years of marriage.
She was born in Worcester on September 16, 1929 and was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Perks) Holgate.
Barbara grew up in Lowell and worked as a candy striper at St. John’s Hospital and was also a factory worker at the mills. She met and married her husband, Freeman, in1955. He had two children and it was at that time Barbara became a homemaker. Her greatest joy was being with family. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, needlework and knitting. She knitted everything from blankets and booties to christening gowns.
Barbara is survived by her children; Lewis Malburne and his wife Lynn of Dracut, David Malburne of Merrimack, NH and Nancy Receputo of Concord NH, her grandchildren; Jarad, Zachary, Rebecca, Derek, and Jacob, Malburne and Paul and Michael Receputo, her great-granddaughter Riley Malburne.
She is predeceased by her sons William and Bruce Malburne and her siblings, William and Robert Holgate and Elizabeth Maxfield.
A graveside service will take place at Richardson Cemetery, DRACUT on Thursday, April 14th at 11:00am. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
