Obituary for Daphne F. Charette (Pickering)

Daphne Faye (Pickering) Charette, 84, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022 after a period of declining health with her family by her side.

Daphne was the youngest daughter of the late James and Ruth (Cash) Pickering. She was born in Fall River and the family settled in Dracut in the 1940’s.

She was educated in the Dracut School System where she met the love of her life, Ray. They were true high school sweethearts. After high school, Daphne went on to hairdressing school and worked at Bon Marche in Lowell. Daphne and Ray married in 1959 and settled in Dracut where they raised their family. Later she worked at the Koala Inn and at a daycare in Methuen along with helping to care for her grandkids.

She and Ray enjoyed square dancing and camping for many years in NH. They also enjoyed several cruises and spending winters in Florida where she loved going to yard sales and the beach.

Daphne is survived by her sweetheart husband Raymond Charette, her three daughters; Paula DeAngelis and her husband Tom of Hudson, NH, Diane Cockroft and her husband Mark of Windham, NH, and Wendy Bentley and her husband Joe of Merrimack, NH, her 6 grandchildren; Deirdre Robert and her husband Seth, Thomas and Laura DeAngelis, Hailey Cockroft, Kate and Megan Bentley, and her great-grandson Landon Robert. She also leaves her sister Joan Bellemore, and several nieces and nephews.

Sadly, she is predeceased by her sister Thelma Hanahan.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 5 – 7 pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
