Obituary for Demetrios P. Karamanolis

Demetrios P. Karamanolis, age 94, a Lowell resident, passed away Friday, May 27, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Sophia (Masias) Karamanolis.

He was born in Voutena, Greece on May 9, 1928 and was the son of the late Panagiotis and Vasiliki (Stathopoulos) Karamanolis.

Demetrios grew up in Greece and attended business school in Kalamata. He had worked at Minnie Shoe as a machinist. He also worked for Wang Labs for 15 years. He was a member of AHEPA and the Hellenic Cultural Society.
He was a smart, social, and kind man who was always helping others. Demetrios enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, spending time with family and vacationing.

Demetrios is survived by his daughter, Maria (Karamanolis) Tournas and her husband Charles of Lowell; grandchildren, Sophia and Spero Tournas; sister-in-law, Maria Masias and many nieces and nephews, both here and in Greece.

The family would like to thank Ann, his caregiver, for all the support and care she provided.

In addition to his wife and parents, Demetrios is predeceased by his siblings, Theodoros Karamanolis and his wife Panagiota, Olympia Petropoulas and her husband Anastastios, Georgia Kontoulis and her husband Christos, Konstantinos Karamanolis and his wife Georgia; and his brother-in-law, Anastasios Masias.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, June 1st from 5pm to 7pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 am at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way., Lowell. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. FACE MASKS ARE RESPECTFULLY REQUIRED AT THE FUNERAL HOME AND AT THE CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church by mail to 25 Fr.
