Obituary for Florence F. Sousa (Silveria)

MANCHESTER, NH - Florence F. (Silveria) Sousa, age 87, a resident of Manchester, NH and formerly of Lowell passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Edward A. Sousa to whom she has been married for 68 years.

She was born in Lowell on May 11, 1934 and was the daughter of the late John B. and Celina (Cloutier) Silveria. She was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School with the class of 1951.

Prior to her retirement, Florence was a Benefits Coordinator for Cabot Industries in Billerica. She also ran her own successful retail Christmas ornament business.

Florence was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and was also a Notary Public in the State of Massachusetts.

She loved to travel, enjoying trips throughout the United States, Hawaii, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. Florence often visited her favorite horse ranch in Colorado, navigated her boat across Lake Winnipesaukee and spent the long New England winters with her dear friends at the Coconuts Beach Resort on Anna Maria Island, Florida. Throughout her life, Florence spent many days at Hampton Beach enjoying the surf or lunching with her “Florida Friends” Bob and Annette Lupien.

Family was everything to Florence. Her house was always open, a pot of fresh coffee ready. For over 50 years she and Ed hosted Christmas Eve, a tradition that her family will cherish forever.

In addition to her husband of 68 years, Florence is survived by her children; Lynne Sousa of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ronald Sousa and his wife Susan of Pelham, Kathy Stratton and her husband Ed of Bluffton, SC and Robin Sousa and her husband JeanPaul Brouillard of Manchester, grandchildren; Jillian Sainte Rose, Stephen Pagliccia, Joseph Pagliccia, Angela Sousa, Audrey Sousa, Amanda Stratton, MD, Greg Stratton, Jason, Jonathan and Tyler Brouillard, Jennifer Carter and Jessica Sousa, great-grandchildren; Dillon, Cole and Domenica Pagliccia, Tyler Keough and Zachary Pagliccia, Evelyn Chrisemer, Alexander Vanasse, Cayden, Nathaniel and Kylie Brouillard, Damian Ashworth, Sage Hill and Micah Carter. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, Cindy Walter whom she loved dearly and her lifelong friend, Pat Capasso.

Sadly, she was pre-deceased by her daughter Nancy A. Sousa and several brothers, sisters and in-laws.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6th from 4pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at Saint Anthony Parish, 893 Central St., LOWELL. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org.
