Gerard D. “Jerry” Lavery, Sr., age 76 a resident of Dracut, formerly of Billerica, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, December 1, 2022. His family and friends will deeply miss his warmth and sense of humor. He was loved by many. Excited exclamations of “Jerry!” greeted him in most public places, attesting to his many cherished friendships.
Jerry was born in Medford on September 30, 1946 and was the son of the late David and Ann (Thompson) Lavery. He spent most of the late 1960s in service to the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He was stationed in Germany. Jerry worked as a Billerica Firefighter for 25 years before his retirement. He was a graduate of Middlesex Community College in Bedford, majoring in Fire Science.
Jerry is survived by his sons, Gerard "Jerry" Lavery II and his wife Rachael Pierotti of Takoma Park, Maryland and Joseph A. Lavery; his partner Rose Sergi; his siblings, David Lavery, and Maryann Lavery-Mueller; his grandchildren, Jesse Noah Lavery, and Daniela Lynn Lavery; also survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is predeceased by his former wife and dear friend, Linda Dano-Lavery; and his siblings Patricia Carpenter and William “Bill” Lavery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 4-7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. A small family funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Cemetery, 96 Riverneck Road, CHELMSFORD. Kindly meet at the cemetery.
