Obituary for Germaine Rose Ludwig (D'Anjou)

Germaine (D’Anjou) Ludwig, age 94, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at D’Youville Senior Center on Monday, January 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Max Ludwig, Jr. with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his passing in 2013.

She was born in Sanford, Maine on November 12, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Israel and Zelie (Ouellette) D’Anjou.

Germaine was the quintessential homemaker. She loved caring for her family and her home. When the kids were older, she went to work in the cafeteria for the Dracut School Dept. Germaine enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafting, playing bingo, and going out to social gatherings with friends. Above all, she cherished Sunday dinners and spending time with her family.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at D’Youville Senior Center, Belvidere Wing for the professional care and compassion they showed Germaine during her time there.

Germaine is survived by her two daughters, Susan M. Spinney and her husband Leonard of Lowell, and Patricia A. Gasper and her husband Michael of Dracut; two sons, Robert P. Ludwig and his wife Debra (Spanos) of Dracut, and Richard M. Ludwig and his wife Brenda (Hatch) of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Robert Ludwig and his partner Rebecca Mercier, Michael Ludwig and his wife Kristen, Lieutenant Commander-U.S.N. Joshua Ludwig and his wife Melissa, CPO-U.S.N. Matthew Ludwig and his wife Brandy, and Sarah Cortes and her husband David; eight great-grandchildren, Max Ludwig III and Madison Ludwig, David and Isaac Cortes, Brianna, Hannah and Morgan Ludwig, and Alexander Ludwig; her sister, Irene Emery and her husband Ernest of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

In addition to her loving husband, Germaine is predeceased by her sister, Rita Morrissey and her husband Donald.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 24th from 9am to 11am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. A funeral home service will follow at 11:15am. Interment will be private.
