Obituary for Gertrude (Silva) Ambrosio
Gertrude (Silva) Ambrosio, age 84, a resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, July 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Manuel Ambrosio with whom she enjoyed 63 years of marriage.
She was born on December 9, 1938 in Graciosa, Portugal and was a daughter of the late Manuel and Virginia Silva.
Gertrude immigrated to the United States in 1970 and settled in Lowell where she raised her family. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed working at Nathan Soloman sewing quality sleepwear. Gertrude also worked at Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury.
In addition to her loving husband, Gertrude is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Camacho and her husband Francisco Camacho of Lowell and her grandson Jason Camacho. She also leaves a brother, Helder Silva and his wife Niza of Peabody, a sister Cecelia Bettencourt of Portugal, a brother, Manuel Silva of Portugal, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 1st from 9am to 11am at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. Funeral service and interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, NH will be held privately.
