Obituary for Irene C. (Chagnon) Adamczyk
Irene C. (Chagnon) Adamczyk, age 92, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at D’ Youville Life and Wellness Community on Saturday, November 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Henry M. Adamczyk with whom she enjoyed 48 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on May 10, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Malcom and Clara (Fleury) Chagnon.
Irene was raised and educated in Lowell. She was a loving mother to 11 children. Her most important job was creating a home for her large family. Once, her children were grown, Irene was employed at Joan Fabrics. She later retired from Textron as a textile piece worker. She enjoyed trips to Foxwood to play Bingo. Irene was a longtime communicant of St. Marguerite D'Youville. She will be dearly missed.
Irene is survived by her children; Henry Adamczyk of Florida, Mary Kelly and the late Jim Kelly of Dracut, Helen Gatti and Craig Brown of Dracut, Elaine Griffin of Hudson, NH, David Adamczyk and his wife Kathy of Derry, NH, Carol Wise and her husband Richard of Dracut, Elizabeth Deneu of Dracut, Donna Merrill and her husband Bart of Thornton, NH, Joseph Adamczyk and his wife Michelle of Dracut, Martin Adamczyk of Nashua, NH , and John Hudzik and his wife Wendy of Dracut, her 29 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters; Blanche Young of Hudson, NH, Loretta Paquette of Dracut, Florence LaCedra and her husband Paul of Ogunquit, ME, her brothers; Richard Chagnon of Dracut and several nieces and nephews.
Irene was sadly predeceased by her brothers; Sonny Chagnon and George Chagnon, her granddaughter Kelly Day and her close friend Josie.
Her family would like to thank the staff at the Westford House and D’Youville Life and Wellness for the wonderful care given to Irene.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd from 4pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:30am at St. Marguerite D’Youville, 1340 Lakeview St. DRACUT. Interment will follow in New Boston Cemetery, DRACUT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
