Obituary for James Edward "Jim" Parrington

James Edward “Jim” Parrington, 68, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, February 9th, 2023. Jim was the beloved husband of Marykate (Cashman) Parrington.
He was born in Lowell on April 13, 1954 and was the son of the late Albert Parrington and Marion (Hughes) Parrington who survives him and resides in Dracut.
Sadly, Jim was predeceased by his father-in-law Thomas J Cashman, brother-in-law Michael W. Cashman, daughter-in-law, Lys (Dembo) Parrington, Cynthia (Cashman) Scribner, and nephew Shane T. Cashman.

Jim retired in April of 2021 after having worked for M/A-Com Inc. for 49 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and spending his time with his family. He enjoyed his home especially in the spring thru the fall. He would spend most days sitting in the screen house enjoying his morning coffee, he loved being outdoors, puttering around and gardening. Jim proudly had 18 grandchildren and they were his biggest joy. He loved and enjoyed spending his time, everyday with them, his family was his life. Their bond with each other was established from the moment they arrived here. In their eyes there was no one greater than their Papa. Each of them left an indelible footprint on his heart. Jim was so fortunate to have the opportunity to spend so much quality time with each and everyone of them. There is no doubt that his light will shine through them forever more.

Everyday he’d never stop, his love for his family was never bent. He was a solid example of brave knowledge. Beside his wife he stood tall, for her, he’d do it all. His few words taught his children so much, their hearts with love he truly touched. Tales in remembrance of what is clear. That he worked hard for his family, a tired man who will be loved for evermore.

In addition to his loving wife and mother, Jim is survived by his children, James “Jake” Parrington of Derry, NH, Michael Parrington of Tyngsborough, Sarahann Farrell of Silver Springs, FL, Melissa Cashman of Tyngsborough, Michael Cashman of Lowell, and three son-in-laws, Derek Scribner, Kevin Ouelette and Daniel Farrell; eighteen grandchildren his mother-in-law, Ann (Primeau) Cashman of Tyngsborough; his siblings, Albert Parrington of Lowell, Jany Fisher and her husband Lance of NH, Linda Parrington of Dracut, Dennis Parrington of Lowell, Jeffrey Parrington and his wife Kathy of Dracut, Larry Parrington and his wife Lisa of Dracut, John Parrington and his wife Kelly of NH and Joan Marais and her husband David of Lowell; his brothers-in-law, Kevin Cashman and his wife Darlene of Tyngsborough and Thomas Cashman and his wife Doris of Billerica.
