Obituary for James W. "Jim" Peasley, IV

James Warren “Jim” Peasley IV, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2022 in Lowell.

He was born on September 22, 1955 in Dover, Delaware, the son of Iris V. (Miller) Peasley and James Warren Peasley III. He grew up in Tewksbury and in 1974 graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School’s culinary arts program.

Jim was a skilled machinist, but also worked in a variety of other fields. He was a cook at the Pewter Pot, a traveling salesman of equestrian equipment, and a security guard, among other professions. His true calling, however, was in the machine shop where even after retirement he could be found making just about anything out of metal, often for friends and family. As a machinist, he was most proud of his work at Itek Optical Systems where he worked on the Hubble Space Telescope among other things.

Jim moved to Dracut where he eventually retired to tend to his garden, work on small engines, and spend time with his family. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed boating and fishing.

Jim is survived by his dear brother, Bruce Peasley and his wife Bobbi. Their selfless care, love and devotion was greatly appreciated. He is also survived by his brother, John Peasley Sr., his sister, Joyce Peasley and her husband Arthur Heusser; and his four nephews, John Peasley Jr., Brian Peasley, Mark Heusser, and Craig Heusser. He also leaves many good friends, including Brian and Michelle Gagnon, Art Rogers, Randy Cole, and many others.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his nephew, Michael Peasley.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 19th from 4 to 7 pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His graveside service will be held on Friday January 20th at 11 am at Westlawn Cemetery, 215 Boston Rd., Lowell.
