Jeanne C. (Poirier) Wagner, age 88 and a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard R Wagner, with whom she enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2014.
Jeanne was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 17, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Leopold Poirier and Yvonne (Cambray) Poirier. She attended schools in Lowell and after graduating high school, worked as a telephone operator. In her earlier years, she loved going to the beach, collecting all sorts of sea glass and shells and was a skilled player of arcade games. She supported her sons with their musical endeavors by hosting many hours of band practice in her basement. She was also an accomplished cook with many specialties that included her baked beans, spaghetti sauce and meat stuffing. She was an avid bird watcher and was a mother hen to the local sparrows and cardinals that depended on her for food and water. She also loved all of the dogs she had over the years. She always leant an ear and offered good advice and was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way she could. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Jeanne is survived by two children, Douglas Wagner and his wife Sherrill of Dracut, and Scott Wagner of Hudson NH; her sister, Pauline Bentley of Bellingham WA; her brothers, Richard Poirier and his wife Bernadette of Lowell, and Roger Poirier of Kansas City MI; 4 grandchildren, Renee Gasper of Moyock NC, Sabrina Wagner of Hudson NH, Andrew Wagner of Berlin, NH, and Joshua Wagner of South Lake Tahoe NV; and many nieces and nephews. She was also a great grandmother to Dominic Gasper of Moyock NC. Jeanne also leaves behind her dear close friend Kathy, whom she talked with on a daily basis. She was greatly helped by her neighbors, Dan, Kim, and Joyce in her later years.
