Jeannette L. (St. Onge) Modeski, age 102, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away at Westford House on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Richard Modeski with whom she enjoyed 36 years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on December 14, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Boucher) St. Onge.
Jeannette graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1937. She worked as a collator for printing and binding companies and later was a travel agent coordinating bus trips to casinos and other various fun places. A devoted communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish, she attended Mass daily. She was also a member of the Blessed Virgin Sodality at St. Peter's Parish in Lowell. Jeannette loved being surrounded by family and friends and her welcoming home was the place where everyone would gather. Above all, she was a loving mother who adored her children and grandchildren.
Jeannette is survived by her children, Margaret Kurinsky and her husband Gerard of Tucson, AZ, Anthony Modeski and his wife Lucille of Dracut, and Janet Megdanis and her husband Thomas of Lowell; her daughter-in-law, Maura Modeski; her grandchildren, Gerard Kurinsky, Michael Kurinsky, Kathryn Dunn, Michelle Campo, Melissa Modeski, Brian Modeski, Christopher Modeski, Craig Modeski, and Heather Wonson; her 18 great-grandchildren; and her 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, sadly she is predeceased by her son, Frederick Modeski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 11am at Immaculate Conception Parish, 144 East Merrimack St., Lowell. Kindly gather at the Church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannette’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at
