John M. McGrath, age 86, former resident of Medford, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary A. (Farrissey) McGrath with whom he enjoyed 63 years of marriage.
He was born in Torbay, Newfoundland, Canada on August 7, 1937 and was the son of the late Michael McGrath and Mary (Morey) Quigley.
John proudly served in the US Army and later worked for over 35 years at UPS. He was able to enjoy a full retirement at the age of 62 and has resided in Dracut the last 14 years. He was a fan of the Patriots, enjoyed gardening, and spending time with his family. He was a man of great faith who attended daily mass. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his daughters, Donna Duva and her husband Steven of Tyngsboro, Diane Kingston and her husband Bob of Watertown, Denise Muise of Dracut, Debra Porter of Dracut, and Deidra McMorrow and her husband Paul of Dracut; his grandchildren, Alyssa and Jason Duva, Steven Ramos, Jessica, John, and Jaclyn Muise, Hayley and Hannah Porter, and Conor and Brady McMorrow; his great grandchildren, Charlee and Jameson Duva; his siblings, Robert McGrath of Medford, and Margaret Landry of Woburn; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James Landry.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 20th from 1pm to 4pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut. Interment will follow at 12:00 noon in Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CEMETERY.
