Obituary for John J. Yurka
John J. Yurka, age 71, a resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Mosher) Yurka with whom he enjoyed 46 years of marriage.
He was born in Lawrence on May 3, 1951 and was the son of the late John and Pauline (Kingston) Yurka.
John grew up in Methuen and graduated from Greater Lawrence Technical School. He then attended Lowell Tech where he earned his engineering degree. John loved wood carving, vacationing, visiting national parks, traveling by train and photography. He was a member of the Camera Club for over 35 years and was a well-known photographer in the Merrimack Valley.
In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his 2 children, John Yurka Jr. of Dracut and Kelly Yurka of Tyngsboro; and his brother David Yurka of South Carolina.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31st from 9am to 11am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, followed by a Graveside Service at 12pm at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 N. Lowell St., Methuen.
