Obituary for Karen Ann Borodawka

Karen Ann Borodawka, 67, of Lowell, passed away on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of the late Alexander M. and Virginia Mary (Rocha) Borodawka and sister of the late Valerie J. Sarault.

Karen was raised in Lowell and was a 1973 graduate of Lowell High School. Prior to her retirement, Karen enjoyed a career as a preschool teacher at the Lowell Day Nursery for over 40 years. She also worked as a bartender at the Abbey Road in the 90’s, a job that she truly loved.

For many years, Karen would rent a home on K St. at Hampton Beach in the summer, it would become known as “The Penthouse on K Street”. She enjoyed taking rides up the coast, going out dancing on Friday nights, listening to Third Eye Blind, shopping and having lunch with her sister and nieces. Karen also loved a good house margarita, tostada with lime, wonton soup, extra crispy chicken wings and French fries. She was an avid Boston Bruins fan and loved Pandora jewelry. She also had a little bit of a shoe fetish.

Karen is survived by her siblings, Michael A. Borodawka, Carl Borodawka, Stephenie Klesaris and her husband Christopher J. Klesaris and Steven A. Borodawka and his partner Bryan Michael; her brother-in-law, Michael H. Sarault; her nieces and nephews, Michelle Borodawka, Michael Borodawka and his wife Mary, Sara Borodawka, Stephenie Sarault, Alexandria J. Bent and her husband Christopher, Michael G. Sarault, Melanie A. Pereira and her husband Ryan A. Pereira, Andrew C. Borodawka and his wife Urvi, Natalie J. Klesaris and her partner Steven Lopez, Samantha A. Klesaris, Benjamin K. Borodawka and Lukas K. Borodawka; her great nieces and nephews, Daisy J. Bent, Julian and Luca Pereira and Armaan and Aalia Borodawka. Karen also leaves her extended family and dear friends.

Karen’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill for the kindness, compassion and care they provided Karen during her stay there.

It being Karen’s wish, visiting hours have been omitted. Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 10am at Holy Family Parish, 75 Chamberlain St., LOWELL. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
