TEWKSBURY – Kathy (Papanicolaou) Bariamis, age 80, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, May 23, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Arfara, Greece on May 22, 1942 and was the daughter of the late George and Christina (Koromila) Papanicolaou.
A talented seamstress, Kathy was the owner of Andover Tailoring. Kathy was passionate about her Greek heritage, and Greece was always in her heart. She especially loved Greek dancing. Every year, she would travel to Greece to spend time with her family in Kalamata. When she wasn’t with family, you could find her gardening. She was a wonderful cook and loved hosting her family and preparing meals for them. Family was the center of her life and her biggest joys were her grandsons. She was honored and proud to help raise her grandkids and to live with them. She will be remembered as a loving, dedicated and loyal mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be dearly missed.
Kathy is survived by her children, Joyce Spanos of Tewksbury, and Timothy Bariamis and his wife Kathy of Leominster; her grandsons, Jonathan and Paul of Tewksbury; her siblings, Eugenia Asimakos, Voula Niarhos and her husband Peter, Vaso Exintaveloni, and Costas Papanicolaou and his wife Lea; and nieces Kristina Carvalho of Lowell, Christina Papanicolaou of Medford, Joanna Papanicolaou and her husband Peter of Reading, nephew George Papanicolaou; and several others in Greece.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother Gregory Papanicolaou, and her brothers-in-law, Bill Asimakos and Demosthenis Exintaveloni.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 27th from 9:30am to 11am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., LOWELL with her funeral service beginning at 11am. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, TEWKSBURY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at www.holytrinitylowell.com.
