Obituary for Kevin Joseph Gedrich

Kevin Joseph Gedrich, 77, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, at The Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (Duffy) Gedrich with whom he shared nearly 55 years of marriage until her passing on February 9, 2021.

He was born in Boston on March 4, 1945, and was the son of the late Walter V. and Helen P. (Dolan) Gedrich.

Kevin grew up in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School in 1963. He was a Sergeant in the United States Air Force and served from 1964-1968, as an airplane propeller mechanic oversees in Germany.

He met his beautiful wife, Elaine, at the New York World’s Fair in 1965. They were married 1 year later on, August 20, 1966. Afterwards Elaine joined Kevin oversees in Germany.

He retired from M.I.T., where he worked for many years as a Senior Project Manager of Operations. It was later in life when he went back to school and earned his Associate in Science from Middlesex Community College back in 1998.

Kevin enjoyed listening to music, seeing live theater, golfing, and traveling. He was able to enjoy several years at their summer place at Lake Ossipee, where he loved to take his family out on his boat.

Kevin is survived by his children, Mark A. Gedrich of Lowell, and Cheryl A. (Gedrich) Gray and her husband, William J. Gray Jr. of Merrimack, NH; his grandchildren, Christina L., Lauryn K., and Ryan M. Gray, and Kara L. and Kali R. Zimmerman; as well as great-grandchildren and many other friends and family members.

In addition to his wife, Kevin is predeceased by his son Thomas M. Gedrich in 2015 and his sister-in-law Marsha A. Duffy in 2014.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 22nd from 9am to 10am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Marguerite D’Youville, Dracut. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelmsford.
