Margaret “Dolly” (Queenan) Dehney, age 89, a lifetime resident of Dracut, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Charles Dehney with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 23rd.
She was born in Dracut on August 1, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Grace (Anderson) Queenan.
Dolly grew up in Dracut, she adored the town and proudly stood by her husband while he was a Town Selectman. Dolly would often be seen wearing her Dracut Middies jacket while watching one of the many sporting events in town. Above all family meant the world to her and she was the proud matriarch of her own family. She made it a priority to attend every family members’ game, meet or show. She helped manage Dracut Ice alongside her son for many years. She loved to sing and even learned how to play guitar. Dolly was known for her sharp wit, storytelling and the ability to outplay anyone in 45s. She touched the lives of many in the Town of Dracut and will be missed immensely.
In addition to her loving husband, Dolly is survived by her 5 sons Charles Dehney and Karen Kirby, Michael Dehney and Kathy Murphy, Joseph Dehney and Kathy Sorensen, Stephen Dehney and Stephanie Powers, Thomas Dehney and his wife Christine; her grandchildren, Meghan, Matt, Stefani, Courtney, Shaylagh, Joey, Jaclyn, Ashley, Thomas, Matthew, Jennifer and Aaron; her great-grandchildren Riley, Charlie and Victoria.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 6th from 4pm to 8pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 11am at St. Marguerite D’Youville Church, 1340 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
