Obituary for Michael (Markos) Tsitsianopoulos

Michael (Markos) Tsitsianopoulos died peacefully on June 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. Michael was the son of the late James and Theodora (Tzelias) Tsitsianopoulos. Michael was born on October 9, 1934, in Mikrokastro, Greece (Macedonia). Michael received his formal education in Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1955.

Michael worked in the shoe industry in Lynn, Massachusetts for 14 years. He also worked at the Grace Shoe Company in Lowell, and later retired as foreman from the Paris Shoe Company in Lowell.

Michael will join Carole, his beloved wife of 61 years, who preceded him in death on September 11, 2018, and his devoted daughter, Dianne, who preceded him in death on January 30, 2019.

Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, especially holiday gatherings and trips to the ocean with Carole. He enjoyed playing cards at home with his son, grandsons, and brothers-in -law. He loved Greek music and tinkered at playing the bouzouki. Michael especially loved horse races and had many friends at the track. Michael was also an enthusiastic Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

Michael leaves behind three loving children, Dorianne Alexandropoulos of Dracut, Estelle Mutchler and her husband Joel of Texas, and James Tsitsianopoulos of Dracut, who Michael enjoyed living with in recent years. He also sadly leaves behind five beautiful grandchildren, Nicholas Alexandropoulos, Gregory Alexandropoulos, Jessica Tsitsianopoulos, Kristine Mutchler, and Jason Torigian, and four great-grandchildren, Ridley Jean Nichols, Jonas Arthur Nichols, Mark Clifford Robinson Jr, and Ava Joanne Robinson.

Michael also leaves behind cousins Christopher Tzelias and Alexandra Clark in addition to many nieces and nephews in Greece.

Michael’s family would like to extend thanks and gratitude to Lynn Schwartz and Kimberly Phillips, for their friendship and warm care of Michael over the last year.

Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately.
