Obituary for Miriam "Mim" A. Provencher

Miriam “Mim” A. (Bailey) (Roark) Provencher, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side at the Highpoint Hospice House in Haverhill, MA on September 4, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph “Donat” Provencher who died in 2021 and the late Edward T. Roark who passed in 1972.

She was born in Lowell on April 4,1928 and was a daughter of the late Angus J. and Gertrude (Hall) Bailey.

Miriam was a dedicated nurse at D’Youville Manor for over 25 years. She had many interests. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed trips to the mountains in New England, especially camping in Goshen NH and spending time at Rands Pond. She also loved the ocean and summer days at Salisbury Beach. Miriam loved playing cards, her favorite being cribbage. She participated in cribbage leagues at the Tewksbury Senior Center and the Lowell Holy Family Parish. An avid reader, Miriam could spend an entire day with a good book. She was a very active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Dracut where she was renowned for donating her delicious baked goods for mercy meals and the St. Martha Bakers & Hospitality Group. She worked at the voting polls as a warden of Precinct 4 for many years. Above all, Miriam loved attending family gatherings and spending precious time with her family and friends.

Miriam is survived by her children; Colleen Foley of Dracut, Dorreen Roark and her husband William Reifschneider of Seabeck, Washington, Wayne F. Roark and his wife Catherine of Sanbornton, NH, Kathleen Roark of Methuen, Justin Roark and his wife Michelle of Easley, SC. J. Timothy Roark and his wife Suzanne of Hudson, NH, Darlene Farren and her husband John of Dracut, and Jonathan Roark of Dracut. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, brothers; Kevin Bailey and his wife Maureen of Westford, and Brendon Bailey of Wausau, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. Sadly, Miriam was predeceased by three of her children; Edward T. Roark, Jr., Lawrence Angus Roark and Eileen F. Mullin, and siblings Fr. Justin Bailey and Gertrude Bailey.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 7th from 4pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 115 Wheeler Road, DRACUT. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, LOWELL.
