Obituary for Norman H. Berry, Sr.

We are sad to announce the passing of Norman H. Berry, Sr., 86 of Tyngsborough, MA and Holiday, FL, on March 27, 2023.

As a young man, he served in the US Army. While stationed in Germany, he was joined by Janet (Dingle) and they were married. Devoted to each other, they were married 61 years. Together they raised 4 children.

After the Army, Norman had several professions. Early on he was a General Motors trained mechanic. He then became a Scuba Diver for Sanders, Nashua, NH, and a member of the Lowell Underwater Divers Club, often assisting in underwater search and recovery. Next, he joined the Volunteer Firefighters for the Town of Tyngsborough. Transitioning to a career in Firefighting he retired as Captain of the Fire Department at Fort Devens, Ayer, MA after 15 years. Always busy, in his “free time” over the years he owned and operated Berry’s Garage, ran a small landscaping business, and was co-owner/ operator of Berry’s Grove, Tyngsborough, MA. In their retirement, he and Janet split their time between Massachusetts and Florida.

Norman is survived by two sons, Norman Berry, Jr and his wife Sherry of Candia, NH, Frank Berry, Sr. and his wife Patricia of Tyngsboro, MA, and a daughter, Janet Enwright of Merrimack, NH. As well as, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, Matthew Berry and wife Erin, Kristen Marks and husband Aaron, Sonya Berry and husband Ken, Kelly Bornstein and husband Jay, Frank Berry, Jr., Arinn Enwright and partner Daniel Di Tommaso, and Katherine Enwright. Great grandchildren, Luke and Finn Berry, David and Jackson Marks, Drew, Tenley and Hannah Bornstein, and Deagan Di Tommaso. He is also survived by a brother James Berry of RI.

He is predeceased by his son Wayne (Butch) Berry, brothers Russell and Frank Berry and a sister Elizabeth Morrison.

His hearty laugh and mischievous manner will be sorely missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. His Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately.
