Obituary for Peter S. Sintros

Peter S. Sintros, age 75, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Fairhaven Health Care on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

He was born in Lowell on December 31, 1946 and was the son of the late Spiros and Photini (Kanellas) Sintros.

Peter graduated from Dracut High School and worked at the VA Hospital in Bedford for many years. He was a faithful steward of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church. Peter began as an altar boy and later in life devoted many years to assisting in the Sunday School program. He loved bowling at Brunswick Lanes and enjoyed watching Saturday bowling on TV. Peter was never at a loss for words, telling stories and jokes to whoever would listen. He loved his family and his feline friends. Peter was a warm-hearted man who took care of his parents, as well as many neighbors. Peter loved the New York Yankees, his Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 and spending summers at the Harris Sea Ranch Motel at Hampton Beach and the Cliff House in Maine. He was a regular at Jerry's Variety Store, Jean's Garage, and the Chelmsford Cinema. In his later years, Peter enjoyed watching the Price is Right and trying his luck with many scratch tickets.

Peter is survived by his siblings, Marina Balkas of Dracut, Christopher Sintros and his wife Marina of Pelham, NH, and Spiros Sintros, Jr. and his wife Olivia of Andover; and by several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Peter is predeceased by his brother-in-law, George Balkas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairhaven Health Care Center as they welcomed Peter into their family and took such loving care of him for several years. Also, thanks to the Lowell General Hospital’s medical staff for the extraordinary care they gave to Peter during his many hospitalizations.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 11th at 10 a.m. with his funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Fr. John Sarantos Way, LOWELL. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, LOWELL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.
