Obituary for Raoul Henri "Hank" Noel

Raoul Henri “Hank” Noel, age 83, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Monday, December 26th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Rose (Parenchuck) Noel with whom he enjoyed 58 years of marriage until her passing in 2018. Hank courageously battled cancer for many years.

He was born in Athol, on September 27, 1939 and was the son of the late Henry and Gratia (Beaudette) Noel and the proud father of the late Chris Noel, formerly of Acton.

He attended Notre Dame High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was in the Airborne Electronics Group. Their aircraft were F102A Delta Daggers and were in the 47th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. He grew up working at his grandfather and father’s grocery store, Noel’s Market, and spent his growing years in his mother, Gratia’s, seamstress store, Knit N Purl. After his military years, he served as a Consultant/Manager/Director for Wang Labs, National Institute of Technology, National Center for Manufacturing Services, and Priority Call Management.

Hank was well-traveled internationally, and thoroughly enjoyed family vacations to the Caribbean. In his retirement, he played the organ, sang, and entertained at the Dracut Senior Center and other local Senior Centers. He would say his musical talent derived from his mother, Gratia, as she previously sang opera for President Roosevelt. Hank loved to sing, dance, and tell jokes. He also enjoyed playing instruments, painting, woodworking, sand sculpting, and socializing. He had the gift of gab – to meet him was to know him.
He was greeted by the love of his life, the late Rose Noel, and his late son, Chris Noel, along with his late parents Gratia and Henry Noel.

Hank is survived by his children, Marie Hanley and her husband Tom of New Ipswich, NH, Steven Noel and his wife Linda of Woodinville, WA, Betsy Noel of Salem, NH and her companion Kevin LaGree, and Danielle Noel of Tyngsboro and her companion Mark Somerville. He was the proud grandfather “Pep” of Kaitlyn Hernandez, Cameron and Connor Matthews, Noelle and Sarah LaBranche, and Amber Noel. He was the great-grandfather of Katalina, Josiah, and Kalisz. He also had chosen family in Travis and Justin LaGree and Alden and Payton Somerville. He also leaves his beloved sister, Arline Cirincione of Maryland, as well as his beloved sisters and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was blessed by wonderful neighbors, in particular Ann and Jim Vandal, and Valerie and Bill Morse who watched over him like family for many years.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 2nd from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 am at the funeral home followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, for his years of service volunteering for the town of Dracut, donations may be made to a memorial bench in his name via the family or to the Lowell General Cancer Walk.
