Obituary for Roger A. "Hoss" Ferreira

Roger A. Ferreira, “Hoss” to his friends and family, 78, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Pelletier) Ferreira with whom he enjoyed 55 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on October 27, 1943 and was the son of the late Manuel and Mathilda (Nadeau) Ferreira.

Roger grew up in Lowell and graduated from Lowell Vocational High School with the class of 1962. He worked for many years as a paver/heavy equipment operator and retired from Aggregate in 2006.

He served in the National Guard for 4 years. Roger was a television enthusiast and he enjoyed hunting, camping, going snowmobiling and taking trips with family. He especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Roger will be remembered as a hard worker with a big heart and a sense of humor to match.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Lowell General Hospital for the kindness they showed to Roger.

In addition to his loving wife, Roger is survived by his children, Irene Hassard and her husband Geoffrey of Oneonta, NY, Roger N. Ferreira and his fiancé Vicky Maille of Lowell, Christine Allen and her husband Frank "Joey" of Lowell, Jessica Cook of Somersworth, NH, and Francis "Frank" Ferreira and his wife Amanda of Dracut; grandchildren, Garrett and Gunnar Hassard, Frank and Dezzeray Allen, Cassandra Roy, and Lily Ferreira. He also leaves behind his grandpups, Eos and Mongo.

In addition to his parents, Roger is predeceased by his brothers John and Raymond Ferreira and his twin sister Gloria Ferreira.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 25, from 10 am – 1 pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. A prayer service will be held at 1:00 pm. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rogers’s memory to St. Jude at stjude.org or American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
