Obituary for Ronald G. Therrien

Ronald G. Therrien, age 83, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Sweeney) Therrien with whom he enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

Ronald was born in Lowell on September 25, 1938 and was the son of the late Alfred Therrien and Jeannette (Mitchelle) Ritchotte. Ron had many passions, harness racing, gardening, his daily walks, and afternoon ice coffees. Ron owned several harness horses with his two sons that trained and drove them to the winner’s circle. You could always find Ron and Peg at the track cheering them on. He also enjoyed his morning walks at Veterans Park and strolls along the beach with his daughter Brenda and the many trips they took together. Ron loved working in his yard with his wife Peg, watching her on the tractor.

Many thanks to his loving sister-in-law Karen Nicolls who was by his side from the beginning always letting him know he couldn’t get rid of her. He was blessed to have the medical care and attention till the very end by his loving niece Mary Gagne-Dean.

In addition to his loving wife, Ronald is survived by his children, Brenda Cocozziello, and Joe Therrien and his wife Judy; his grandchildren, Amber Hawkinson and her husband Jeff, Ronnie Therrien, Jr. and his wife Meagan, and Emily Therrien; his great-grandchildren, Selene, and Roan; his sister, Joyce Letourneau; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Ronnie Therrien and his siblings, Beverly, Lorraine, and David.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 25th from 5pm to 8pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at the Dracut Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Gibson Cemetery, Pelham, NH.
