Obituary for Sally R. Melanson (Entwistle)

Sally R. (Entwistle) Melanson or “Sal”, a resident of Westford, formerly of Lowell and Tyngsboro passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday, Oct 5, 2022, after celebrating 89 years of life. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Melanson with whom she enjoyed 47 years of marriage before his passing in 1998.

She was born in Lowell on April 11, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Warren and Gertrude (Awalt) Entwistle. Sally grew up in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1950. After graduating she worked for Lowell Lingerie for many years and became an avid leader. In her personal time, she enjoyed nothing more than spending countless hours with her family & friends near home or vacationing at her lake house in Liberty, Maine.

We will remember “Sal” always for her loving nature, her playfulness, and her endearing determination that made her the strong woman we loved and admired. A limb has fallen from our family tree, but we are thankful for the heritage and wisdom she left behind, and we will keep it strong for generations to come.

Sally is survived by her son, Robert “Scott” Melanson of Lowell; her daughter in-law, Patricia Grandalski and her husband Leo of Tyngsboro; her grandchildren, Charles Melanson and his wife Elaine of Tyngsboro, Kara Burnham and her husband James of Chelmsford, Carlee Melanson Montijo of Lowell; her great grandchildren, Angelise, Charles, Addison, Brady, Crystal Perkins, and Guillermo Montijo; and her cousin, Virginia Kirane of Chelmsford.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sally is predeceased by her son, Charles Melanson; her sister, Shirley Hovanasian; and her brother in-law, John Melanson.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 11th from 5pm to 7pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the Dracut Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lowell Cemetery, LOWELL.
