Obituary for Sonia W. Craib (Romel)
Sonia W. (Romel) Craib, age 86, a longtime resident of Lowell, passed away at Northwood Rehabilitation and Health Care Center on Monday, February 20th, 2023. Sonia was the beloved wife of the late Thomas E. Craib with whom she shared many years of marriage before his passing in 2007.
She was born in Nashua, NH on December 5, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Julian and Agnes (Jakabowicz) Romel.
Sonia grew up and was educated in Nashua, graduating from Nashua High School with the class of 1954. She worked for Raytheon, Wang and Benchmark doing assembling, wiring, and soldering. Sonia was a member of the Lowell Senior Center, where she enjoyed making baby hats. She also volunteered at Community Teamwork Inc. In her free time, she loved to read, knit and spend time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah A. Hubert and her husband Paul of Lowell; her grandchildren, Kara, David, and Matthew; her great-granddaughter, Alexandra; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Sonia is predeceased by her son, Michael E. Craib, and her brother Frank Romel.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 27th at11am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
