Obituary for Sophie Kosidlo (Wrobel)

Sophie Kosidlo, age 90, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on April 14, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Kosidlo with whom she enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.

She was born in Lowell, MA on September 1, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Faber) Wrobel.

After graduating from Lowell High School, Sophie worked at various administrative positions before marrying Stanley and starting a family. She was a stay-at-home mother during the years her children were young. Once her children were grown up, she worked at Wang Laboratories. Sophie was a parishioner and an active member of St. Casimir’s Church, where she was on the parish committee, a member of the ANS organization and did volunteer work in the parish kitchen making Polish foods. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, having family gatherings at her home and spending time with the ones she loved most.

Sophie is survived by her 3 children; Stanley P. Kosidlo and his wife Linda of Tyngsboro, Deborah Starenas of Windham, NH and Linda Hogan of Dracut; 3 grandchildren, Joseph and James Kosidlo and Daniel Hogan; a great-grandson, James Kosidlo, Jr., and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Sophie is predeceased by her son-in-law, Paul Starenas, and her six brothers and sisters.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 19th from 4pm to 7pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20th at 10am at St. Casimir’s Church, 268 Lakeview Ave., Lowell. Interment will follow in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Pelham, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Casimir’s Church, 268 Lakeview Ave., Lowell, MA 01850.
