Obituary for Stephen Michael Busby

Stephen M. Busby, age 69, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Valerie J. (Bouthiette) Busby with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

He was born in Worcester on October 27, 1953 and was the son of the late Guilbert and Eva (Lucente) Busby.

Stephen was a graduate of Algonquin Regional High School, and was employed by Courier Citizen Corporation in Westford for 35 years. Following his retirement, he worked part time for the Merrimack Valley Food Bank. He enjoyed going for long walks with his dogs, and welcomed every interaction and conversation on their daily routes. He was a friendly neighbor to many. Stephen loved his annual trips to Acadia National Park to go camping, a family tradition he enjoyed into his later years. He also had a love for classic cars, always expertly identifying each by year/make/model when he would see them in his travels.

In addition to his loving wife, Stephen is survived by his children: Stephanie Busby of Dracut, and Matthew Busby of Portland, Oregon; sister, Charlotte Wojtaszek of Grafton; brothers Guilbert Busby and his wife, Mary Charbonneau of Greene, Maine; Vincent Busby and his wife Eda of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; half-sister, Amalia Raspante of Illinois; sister-in-law Patricia Suprenant of Marlboro; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Stephen was predeceased by his sister, Carol Reeves; his brothers-in-law, Richard Wojtaszek and Ray Raspante; and half-brother, Edward Suprenant.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 20th from 4pm to 7pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. Marguerite D’Youville, 1340 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Stephen’s memory at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; PO Box 849168; Boston, MA 02284.
