Obituary for Steven P. Whitton, Sr.

Steven P. Whitton, Sr., 57, of Hudson, NH passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Edith and Robert E. Whitton, Sr. of Dracut, MA and his brother, Richard H. Whitton, Sr. of Cape Canaveral, FL. He leaves behind his wife of 18 years, Lauren M. (Wallace) Whitton originally from Wakefield, MA and his 17-year-old son, Steven P. Whitton, Jr., two sisters Elaine and her husband Robert Linscott of Dracut, MA and Carol and Gerald Carrigg of Tewksbury, MA, a brother Robert and his wife Louann of Derry, NH, a sister-in-law Barbara Fitzgerald of Cape Canaveral, FL and many nieces and nephews.

Steve was born in Lowell, MA in 1965 and graduated from Greater Lowell Technical Vocational High School in 1983 as an HVAC technician. From 1983 to 2002, he worked for Sears, Hussman and Lowell General Hospital before finally landing a job with Building Technology Engineers leading the operations team at Cross Point in Lowell, MA where he met his wife. He became permanently disabled in 2018 after complications arising from cancer treatment. He celebrated five years of being cancer-free this February.

He loved the Patriots and Bruins and was an avid NASCAR fan. Steve enjoyed taking the boat out, RVing with the family and spending time in the pool. An animal lover, Steve was never without his beloved English Labs, Maggie, and Bella while at home. He had two parakeets, a saltwater aquarium and he always made sure the bird feeders outside were full. Steve was a fantastic cook, He enjoyed all kinds of music and enjoyed tossing back a cold one with friends.

Steve took joy in watching his son play football. One of his favorite pastimes was teaching Steven something new, whether it was driving a car, plowing the driveway, fixing a piece of equipment, or cooking a meal. He always wanted to impart his wisdom. Those early lessons are the bedrock of knowledge now for a son whose father has been taken too soon.
