Obituary for Theresa Martineau (Sousa)
Theresa (Sousa) Martineau, age 80, a lifelong resident of Tyngsboro, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Rene Joseph Martineau with whom she enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2021.
She was born in East Boston on April 23, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Jose and Eleanor (Sousa) DeSouza.
She became an artistic painter late in life, developing this new skill with her many friends at the Tyngsboro Senior Center. Following her retirement, Theresa enjoyed domestic and international travel. She worked as an Executive Assistant for the President of Middlesex Community College, from which she was awarded an Associate Degree in Mental Health. "Terry" owned and operated Winterwoods Convenience Store in Tyngsboro for many years. She loved going to Hampton Beach with her beloved Rene and was also an avid reader.
Theresa is survived by her sons, Rene Joseph Martineau Jr. and his wife Stacy of Greeneville, TN, and Eric J. Martineau of Tyngsboro; her daughter, Danielle Martineau and her significant other Joe Silva of Dracut; her siblings, Mary White and her husband Ed, Edward DeSouza, and Lorraine DeSouza and her husband Gary Howland; her grandchildren, Stephany, Paul, Jessica, Leroux and Chloe; and her great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately.
