Obituary for Xenophon "Doc" Michaels

Xenophon "Doc" Michaels

Doc Michaels, 100 years young of Lowell, MA and longtime resident of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Rita Michaels with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.

Born on May 7, 1922, Doc attended Lowell schools and furthered his studies at Boston University where he completed his doctoral program. He was employed as an Adjustment Counselor for 39 years in the Lowell School System and retired in 1996. In addition, Doc taught classes at Lowell Technological Institute and the University of Lowell and also had a private psychology practice in the Lowell area.

Doc was a torrid reader and always enjoyed a good story line. He loved listening to and singing opera, writing and drawing calligraphy as well as planning an international travel adventure or a winter escape to Florida with Rita. Doc was also a reserved philanthropist who possessed an engaging quick wit and dry sense of humor. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his family and those closest to him.

Doc is survived by Rita the love of his life as well as his son John. He also is survived by his stepchildren Barbara Norwood, Patricia Jusczak, Thomas Brady Jr., and Daniel Brady. In addition, he is survived by his adored step grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Melody, his sisters Rita Govatos, Betty Veves and also Maryann Brady and Thaddeus Jusczak.
