Obituary for Zulmira C Ribeiro (Cardoso)

Zulmira C. (Cardoso) Ribeiro, 77, died peacefully on May 11, 2022 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio Ribeiro, whom she shared 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2020.

Zulmira was born in Graciosa, Azores on February 26, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Aurelio and Zulmira (Pereira) Cardoso.

She worked as an assembler for Wang for many years prior to her retirement.

Zulmira enjoyed crocheting, relaxing on her couch, and cooking. She will be remembered most for the love and affection she had for her family, Sunday dinners, and for baking the most delicious Portuguese bread. Her family was extremely important; she particularly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Maria Bettencourt of Merrimack, NH, Aguinaldo Ribeiro of Salem, NH, and Brenda Cordeiro and her husband Manuel of Nashua, NH; her six grandchildren, Jason Ribeiro, Derik Bettencourt, Dylan Bettencourt, Melinda Ribeiro, Miranda Bettencourt, and Ariana Ribeiro; her ten great grandchildren, Lianah Ribeiro, Neilani Bettencourt, Nialise Bettencourt, Abriella Sum, Omari Ribeiro, Nova Bettencourt, Zialiegh Ribeiro, Ezra Ribeiro, Chansyn Sum, and Ayvin Sum; her brothers Fernando Cardoso of Canada, Aguinaldo Cardoso and his wife Gabriella of Canada; her sister Maria Anina DaSilva also from Canada; and her sister-in-laws, Regina and Rosaria Ribeiro of Azores. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Zulmira is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Casmiro Ribeiro, sister-in-law Maria Alice Cardoso, and her brother-in-law Vivaldo DaSilva.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 16th from 8am to 10am at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at Saint Anthony Parish, 893 Central St., Lowell. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell.
